Project: Hare Row Resurfacing and Ponding Resolution
Client: JB Riney
Borough: Tower Hamlets
Introduction
JB Riney approached TopoCrew to provide professional engineering services for the Hare Row project, which involved resurfacing and resolving ponding issues in the area.
Challenges and Approach
One of the main challenges was the limited timeframe for the project, with everything needed to be done during the course of a week-end. To begin, an accurate survey of the area was conducted to identify the cause of the ponding. Through careful analysis of the gradients, we developed a design that not only eliminated the ponding issues but also eliminated the need for additional gullies. A crucial consideration in the redesign was maintaining clearance between the new surface and the bottom of the overhead railway bridge. As a result, we advised the client to take a different approach than simply overlaying the old cobbles with asphalt.
